DESCRIPTION

Generally light green on upper parts, wings and underparts, wings and underparts (grading inti light blue at vent); white patch below bill: throat brownish yellow; black eye-stripe with red iris; conspicuous bright blue tail with central streamer.

DISTRIBUTION

Found from India and S China trough Southeast Asia and New Guinea. Populations in Malaysia and Singapore are mainly passage migrants and winter visitor.

HABITS and HABITAT

Ussually seen in open areas, including beac scrub, former tin-minning areas and rice fields.Individuals or group often seen perched on utility lines, using these to sally forth in pursuit of winged insects. Also uses the same perch to disarm prey such as bees of their sting. Roots in groups.

It was Tuesday morning November 6th, 2012 around 7:30 AM to 8:00 before I went to the office, I just walked around my condo at Riana Green East Condo to see and might shot any interest bird. Tough I heard a bird sound in every morning at Riana Green East Condo through my apartment - I still no much expectation to find a special birds, as compare if I go to the mountain and real forest. But today, I was really surprise and will not under estimate again - I found not the ordinary bird, it was Blue Tailed Bee-Eater nicely perch on the open branch. I do not have to wait any longer as I shoot Bee-Eater as many As I want. The light beam direct to the bird, the position and the location in where I shot a bird, the distance, the elevation , the open area ( not covered by leaves), everything, everything was support me to take the shoot of Bee Eater.
And one thing that make me interest and easy to take a shoot of the Bee Eater's photo, is her behavior during her fly, after flew to other place, she always and always came back to the position as she was before.
